I have the readings. For Wednesday (Epistle), the reading is 1 Corinthians 2:1-12 (13-16). Let me generate the chapel content.
Opening Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank you for being with us today. Help us listen and learn about your special way of doing things. Amen.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
When Paul came to the church in Corinth, he didn’t use fancy words or try to sound smart. He said, “I decided to tell you about only one thing: Jesus and how he died on the cross for you.” Paul was nervous and even shaking when he spoke. But God’s power was in his simple words, not in impressive speeches.
What This Means
Imagine you’re picking teams for a game. Who do you pick first? Usually the biggest, fastest, strongest kids, right? That’s how the world works.
But God does things differently. Way differently.
When Paul went to tell people about Jesus, he could have tried to sound really smart. Corinth was a city full of people who loved clever speeches and big ideas. But Paul didn’t do that. He came feeling weak and scared. He talked about something that sounded crazy to most people: a man who died on a wooden cross.
Here’s the thing—what looks weak to us is actually where God is strongest. A baby in a manger doesn’t look powerful. A man dying on a cross doesn’t look like a victory. But that’s exactly how God saves the world.
It’s like if someone told you the smallest seed in the garden would grow into the biggest tree. You wouldn’t believe it—until you saw it happen.
God loves to work through things that seem small and weak. He doesn’t need impressive people or fancy words. He uses regular people like Paul. Like you. Like me.
Let’s Talk About It
Eberley: Why do you think God chooses to work through weakness instead of strength? What does that teach us about who God is?
Eberley: The world says “bigger and stronger is better.” Where do you see that message, and how is God’s way different?
Sonja: How do you think Paul felt when he was nervous about speaking? Have you ever felt scared to tell someone something important?
Sonja: What did Paul decide to talk about instead of trying to sound smart?
Dahlia & Freddy: Was Paul trying to show off, or was he telling people about Jesus?
Dahlia & Freddy: Does God use big, strong things or small, weak things?
Remember This
God’s power works best through things that look weak.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for not needing us to be strong or smart or impressive. Thank you for using ordinary people to share your love. When we feel small or scared, help us remember that you are with us. Your power is enough. Amen.
